This is a four-station rotation during which students will measure volume in two ways - by multiplying length, width and height of rectangular prisms and by the water displacement method for irregular objects. They will also measure mass using a triple beam balance and calculate density as the quotient of mass and volume.
Included in the pdf file is one page of teacher notes, four station signs with step-by-step directions, and a two page student lab sheet. An answer key is not provided as the answers will vary depending on the objects being measured.
*Please Note* Basic lab equipment is required for this lab activity including triple beam balances, graduated cylinders, and metric rulers. The teacher also needs to provide objects to be measured (such as rocks, marbles, empty containers, etc.)
