Students practice measurement and recording data on a line plot with this fun fall center! It can be used in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grades, but is specifically aligned to the Common Core Standards for 2nd grade.
This activity requires several (15+) real leaves
Leaves may be collected:
1. by the teacher, ahead of time
2. by students, during a nature walk
3. by students, as a homework assignment
To complete the activity, students must use a ruler to measure each leaf and record it on the provided line plot. After recording their data, they will answer several questions about their findings.
This product includes two versions of the activity: one for measurement in inches and another for measurement in centimeters. (Do either, or BOTH!)
*Optional extension activity: Have students make leaf rubbings of each of their leaves, recording the length on each. Then, have them use their leaf rubbings to complete the line plot activity.
