This activity is designed for elementary aged students who are learning how to measure length. In my classroom when I do this activity, I prepare bags with all of the items listed and then have students work in groups to measure the lengths of all of the items. My students really enjoy this activity because they are able to use a ruler to measure real life objects, not just lines on a worksheet. This activity would also make a great math center. There are no specific units listed on the worksheet so students can measure items in inches, centimeters, and/or millimeters. This activity meets the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) for 3rd grade math.
