Your students will enjoy measuring the lengths of different objects using non-standard units of measurement (tiles, clips and craft sticks). The activities are designed to allow teachers the opportunity to differentiate in their own classrooms. I have created mats that focus on each unit as well as mats that focus on all three units at one time. Use whichever mats makes the most sense/accommodates your young mathematicians.
Lastly, I have included several writing activities that encourage your students to think critically about the standards that are being addressed. The writing tasks reinforce how to measure correctly as well as the big idea that …
