Included in this packet are three different performance activities for students to engage in measuring matter through hands on learning. The three include: measuring mass with a balance scale, measuring volume, and measuring length. I have included two “info” pages that you can choose to give to students or just use for yourself. In these pages, I have listed background information, materials needed for each station, and a little summary of each station.
I have also included a “lab booklet” cover page (in both color and black and white). I am using this page as the cover and copying the “info pages” and lab pages front to back to make each student a book. My students will be completing these stations in a rotation style with groups. You can choose to do it as rotations or do one station a day. The reason I am doing it as rotations is to limit the amount of similar supplies needed.
The materials you will need for these three activities are:
Full Capri Sun (you could also use juice boxes)
Empty Capri Sun container
2 pencil top erasers
Roll of masking tape
New, unsharpened pencil
