A fun activity that is a game for students who measure out precise volumes of the reactants of a chemical reaction between vinegar and baking soda. The goal of this chemistry game is to combine the exact amount of reactants so that bubbles produced go over the top of the cup, but do not spill down the sides. A variation of the activity is described where a ping-pong ball is used in a graduated cylinder!
Provided is the data table where students can record the volumes of each ingredient used in each attempt. The table can be a stand-alone assignment or can be incorporated into an interactive lab notebook. There is also a blank materials section for students to list the materials used in the activity.
