These activities are designed to give your students practice with linear measurement in standard and non-standard measurement forms and with line plots.

Each activity offers student friendly, hands-on experiences and comes with a student direction page, templates and recording sheet. They can be used to introduce or reinforce skills taught in class. This packet includes the following:

1. Common Core Standards Posters for grades K-3 (Measurement and Data)

2. Pick A Measurement: Students will sort object cards based on which unit of measurement they would use. (inches, feet, yards, centimeters and meters) and record their responses.

3.Measure the Room: Students will choose 2 forms of non-standard measurement to use to measure objects on picture cards provided. They will record their findings on their student sheet.

4.Centimeter Central: Students will measure objects on picture cards (included) using a centimeter ruler.

5.Inching Through the Seasons: Students will measure objects on picture cards (included) using an inch ruler.

6.Line Plot Lingo: Students will measure objects, record their findings on a table and plot the information on a line plot. Then, they will answer questions about their data.

7.Build A Sandcastle: Measuring Craftivity- Students will "build" a sandcastle using the included templates. This can be completed in pairs or individually. Then they will measure the height and width of their sandcastle in centimeter and inches and record their answers.
