Product Description

This measuring weight activity pack is packed with FUN-filled activities! Perfect for math stations, small groups and independent work.

Also available: Measuring Length and Height: 7 Practical Activities

All activities are designed with minimal words, and maximal visual clues. This helps all students, regardless of reading ability, feel confident and able. Math access to all!

8 practical activities are included, all of which are designed to help develop comparative vocabulary by weighing with non-standard units of measurement.

PACK INCLUDES:

  1. Heavier and Lighter: Students directly compare items (easily found in a school) using a balance scale.
  2. Estimating and Weighing: A partner activity designed for children to estimate and weigh school items using unifix cubes and a balance scale.
  3. How Heavy? Students estimate and weigh school items using unifix cubes and a balance scale.
  4. Comparing Weights: Students must identify, without a scale, items which are heavier and lighter than their shoes.
  5. Weighing Shoes: A small group activity designed for students to weigh and then order their shoes according to weight. You may choose the unit of measurement.
  6. Comparing My Weight: Children are challenged to identify items around the room which are likely to be heavier and lighter than their own body weight. No scale is required for this activity.
  7. Comparing Weights: A small group activity which is to be completed with an adult. This activity is designed to help students recognize that size does not matter when measuring weight. Children must compare a series of two items then record which was heavier and which was lighter.
  8. Comparing Weights: A simplified version of the activity described above.
