Research proves that if students can learn in a hands on manner and teach their peers, they will remember the concepts. This fifth grade differentiated math lesson plan is written in the Backwards Design method. Students utilize a menu format to choose their products for each of four lessons.
When complete students should be able to:
Goal 1: Students can use models to determine the surface area of rectangular prisms.
Goal 2: Students can determine the surface area of a rectangular solid.
Goal 3: Students can determine the volume of a rectangular solid.
Goal 4: Students can apply formulas and reasoning to determine the volume and surface area of rectangular solids.
