Students continue their exploration of the five concepts of Media Literacy: (1) Everyone Interprets Differently, and (2) All Forms of Media are Different. First, students look at various advertisements and give their reactions and consider why others might react differently based on race, culture, age, etc. Next, students talk about how forms of media differ (and why a movie will never be exactly like the book it's based off of). Finally, students complete Venn Diagrams comparing and contrasting forms of media and how they tell stories or give information.
My lessons include an interactive PowerPoint with instructional notes for the teacher in the "notes" section of the PPT. It also includes a complete and printable classwork packet for students in .docx form. Classwork includes a Do Now and Exit Ticket.
