This is a set of handouts I gave to my grade 11/12 media class on the Five Core Concepts.
It is a four page file with the first page explaining the Five Core Concepts with the five questions associated with it.
The remaining three pages feature an example of how to analyze an ad campaign using the Five Core Concepts. I found this helpful for students as it shows them how deep an analysis using the Five Core Concepts can go and what I am expecting from them. This lesson usually comes after my lesson on the Media Studies Triangle and I subtly tie in the analysis from there to here.
Afterwards I usually show them commercials I've found on YouTube and ask them to analyze it according to the Five Core Concepts.
