Cooperative and independent learning focusing on the advantages and disadvantages of using different mediums to present a particular topic or idea. Students begin the lesson in groups moving through six learning stations where they record the advantages and disadvantages of each media type. After moving through all six stations, students complete a independent written performance task. A rubric is included to provide students with clear expectations for the writing portion of the lesson.

Learning Stations- Informational Text Posters:
Each learning station focuses on a different media type. An informational article is provided that highlights the advantages and disadvantages of using that particular type of medium to present a topic or idea.
Media Literacy Graphic Organizer:
A graphic organizer is provided for students to independently record their findings at each station. Students will need to access and utilize the graphic organizer when completing the writing task.
Media Literacy Writing Prompt:
The performance task requires students to synthesize and analyze the information gained from the cooperative learning stations. Students must defend their first and last choice of medium for presenting a particular product or idea.
A writing rubric is provided to outline clear expectations for students before they start writing their paragraphs.
