This social story and task analysis chart was created for students with autism to help them understand the procedure and individual steps in taking their medication when they are adverse to or unsure of the process. It breaks down the medication process into simple, understandable steps and outlines them for the child through both explicit visuals and hands on manipulation of Picture Exchange Cards. This helps to give children a routine to rely on and create an understanding of their expectations in the process.
Included is a social story outlining those steps, as well as an explicit Task Analysis System in which they physically move each step over to a "finished" side giving them a sense of accomplishment and autonomy. Included in this version is a final "reward" or iPad time as an incentive.
Task Analysis Steps Include:
-Put Pill in Mouth
-Use the iPad
*If you would like minor adjustments made to the task analysis steps, please just ask - I'd be happy to help!
Explicit instructions for assembly and use provided within the product.
