Do your students love March Madness and bracketology? Are you looking for a way to keep your students engaged at the end of the year? Would you like to do a review of your studies? This Medieval Leaders bracket is a great way to accomplish all of the above! Students review the leaders who were thoughtfully selected for the bracket. Students then develop sound reasoning for why their chosen historical figure was selected to move on to the next round of the bracket. This exercise is great for discussion and can be completed in groups or individually. It is guaranteed to facilitate some debate and research. You can extend it to have students write a lot or modify it to have students write very little and make it discussion-based. I have also used this as a sub plan and students did the research on each individual to make a compelling argument for who should advance to the next round. It could work as a study guide, as well. This download includes two brackets. Some of the historical figures may be included on both.
