In groups of four, students get to know each other by finding 5 traits, preferences, or ideas they share and four ways each of them is unique.
This activity is excellent for beginning of the year as an icebreaker, but additionally is very helpful for the teacher to observe the students' behavior: Who is a natural leader? Who is extraordinarily quiet? By listening in to their conversations, the teacher can get a feeling for the tone of the class, begin to sense their interests and understand what would motivate them all year.
The template provided becomes a written record of cooperative work done by students in a team building exercise, and looks attractive when posted near the team's picture.
