This presentation is part of a unit to teach learners about leading and participating in formal, professional meetings. The PowerPoint is part of a larger unit, focusing on teaching students about their IEP's and how to present important information to their guests. Meeting Process - Part 2, focuses on students in Special Education in an effort to focus on the various components of their IEP's. This PowerPoint can be used to help students achieve progress in leading their own meeting, understanding what is in the document, or educating parents in the IEP document.
The sections are broken down to the key areas relating to the student's educational and behavioral needs. The areas focused on are the Information, Present Levels of Performance, Accommodations, Transition Plan, and Goals and Objectives. It is stressed to the students that this is a legal document that links the school, their family and the government to ensuring that their rights to an education are upheld.
Highlights: The pictures used are of the Omaha Public Schools, located in Nebraska, and can be substituted to fit your district's IEP template format. Language is presented in a student focused and student friendly manner to help encourage participation in the process.
