This 20 craft pack contains crafts and activities for every season!
This is a craft I do with my kindergarten class in September. The students use their thumbprints to decorate an apple. The apple also contains a poem that reads:
This very special apple
Didn't grow on a tree.
I made it with my fingerprints
So it's a part of me!
I usually punch a whole through the top and hang them in my room for the entire month of September.
*Johnny Appleseed Craft:
This is a craft we do to celebrate Johnny Appleseed Day. After we read a book about Johnny's life, the students write (or dictate) the most important things they learned. This is great practice for common core standard RI.K.2, in which the students must identify key details and main ideas in a text. They then glue their writing to the craft.
Two types of writing paper are included (traditional three lines with the middle line dotted or paper for those using Handwriting Without Tears in the two line format).
*Pumpkin Book / Poem:
This is a book my kindergartners make in October. It is shaped like a pumpkin and each page contains part of a pumpkin poem. On each page, the students must draw a picture to match a certain part of the poem. The words are shaped and sized so that even non-readers can figure out what each page says. For example, the word large is written in large letters and the word round is written in a round shape. This is a good confidence booster for beginning readers and my kindergartners love taking this home to "read" to their families.
The book reads:
All are seen on Halloween! Boo!
This is also a fun poem to memorize and recite for Halloween.
This is a monster craft we make in my kindergarten classroom to decorate for Halloween. The cutting is great practice for early fine motor skills.
*Tree of Me Leaf Craft:
This is a craft we do in the fall. It is a tree with leaves that the kids color according to their likes and characteristics. The students also write their name on the pupmkin. This craft makes for a very colorful classroom during the fall holidays!
Eight leaves are included. They read:
My Favorite Color
The Color of My Eyes
The Color of My Favorite Thanksgiving Food
The Color of My Shirt
My Favorite Football Team's Colors
The Color of Something I'm Thankful For
The Colors of My Halloween Costume
The Color of my Favorite Candy
Four blank leaves are included in case you'd like to make your own categories.
*Football Player Craft:
This is a football player craft. It's a fun way to celebrate football season with your students. You can customize the colors of your craft to honor your favorite team.
*Christmas Wish Craft and Writing Activity:
This is a craft and writing activity that I use during the month of December. It is a bear dressed warmly and holding a sign that says "My Christmas Wish...". The students write about their Christmas wish and then assemble the craft.
Four different types of writing paper are included, with different headlines (Either My Christmas Wish... or My Winter Wish...) and to accommodate different handwriting programs (Handwriting Without Tears and Zaner-Bloser).
A cute flying reindeer to decorate for Christmas.
*Self-Portrait Paper Craft:
This is a project we do for our January open house. Each student creates a paper version of themselves, dresses it in their style, and writes clues to their identity. At open house, the parents try to guess which paper student belongs to them.
After creating their paper selves, students can pick from the following to dress themselves: short sleeve shirt, long sleeve shirt, leggings, jeans, tank top, skirt, boots, shoes, sunglasses, hair bows, bow ties, and shorts.
This is a hippo craft that we make during our animal unit in my kindergarten class.
Makes a cute bulletin board or hallway decoration and provides great fine motor practice for beginning kindergartners.
*Graduation Craft and Writing Activity:
This is a craft we make to celebrate our kindergarten graduation. Students use the templates to make their project - a boy or girl holding a piece of paper that reads "Everything I need to know I learned in kindergarten..." The students then write a paragraph about what they learned this year. Two types of writing paper are included to accomodate different handwriting programs (Handwriting Without Tears and Zaner-Bloser).
*Presidents Day Washington and Lincoln Craft and Writing Activity
These Washington and Lincoln crafts are perfect for Presidents Day. Use the provided templates to make each project then a photograph of the student is used for the president's head.
The students then use the provided writing paper to write about what they would do if they were president. Two types of writing paper are included to accommodate different handwriting programs (Handwriting Without Tears and Zaner-Bloser).
*Proud to Be an American Craft and Writing Activity:
These crafts are perfect for the Fourth of July or Flag Day (or any day you want to celebrate America). Students use the templates to make each project (a boy or girl holding an American flag and wearing patriotic clothing), then use the provided writing paper to write about why they are proud to be an American. Two types of writing paper are included to accommodate different handwriting programs (Handwriting Without Tears and Zaner-Bloser).
This is a leprechaun craft we make in my kindergarten class to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. The arms and legs are jointed with brads (if you choose) so the kids have fun making their leprechauns dance around.
This is a bumblebee craft we make in my kindergarten classroom in the spring/summer.
*Flower of Me Craft:
This is a craft we do in my kindergarten classroom in spring. It is a flower with a stem and leaf. The leaf reads "A Flower of Me" and the child will write his/her name in the center of the flower.
For each petal, the child uses a color that represents their likes and characteristics. The petals read:
"My Favorite Color"
"The Color of my Favorite Animal"
"My Eye Color"
"My School Colors"
"The Colors of my Favorite Holiday"
"My Color of my Favorite Flower"
This is a craft we use during our animal unit in my kindergarten class. It is a cute little lion that looks great on our bulletin boards or hanging in the hallway.
The cutting required is great fine motor practice for new kindergartners!
*Baseball Bobblehead Craft
This is a fun art project we did in my kindergarten classroom to celebrate the world series. It does require some prep, but they came out super cute. You will need white cardstock, a printer, and brads.
*Christmas Nativity Scene Craft:
This is a Nativity Scene Craft we use in my classroom to celebrate the Christmas season.
Included in this craft:
After each item is assembled, they are glued onto a large piece of blue construction paper and a stable is made using craft/popsicle sticks.
*I Love My Mom/Dad Because...Mother's/Father's Day Crafts and Writing Activities:
We make these crafts as gifts for our moms and dads on Mother's Day and Father's Day. Students use the templates to make each project - a boy or girl holding a piece of paper that reads "I love my mom because..." or "I love my dad because..." The students then write a paragraph about why they love their mothers/fathers (great for persuasive writing, in line with the Common Core Standards). Two types of writing paper are included for each craft to accommodate different handwriting programs (Handwriting Without Tears and Zaner-Bloser).
All templates and step-by-step directions (with pictures) are included for each craft. Please message me if you have any questions. Enjoy!
