Vocabulary can be tough in science because there are so many new words that students are learning. One way to make it fun is to play games with the terms. BINGO! This includes 8 different bingo boards and a vocabulary sheet. (If you have more than 8 students you can just have duplicates: it just means that when one gets bingo, there will be 2 of them to get bingo at the same time)
This activity can be used several ways:
- As a class activity before you start the chapter to get students familiar with the terms (provide the vocab sheet for students to use as a resource)
- As a review for the test (don't give vocab sheet and read the definition instead of calling the word)
-Partner practice (they can practice calling the words)
It's up to you to decide if you will call out the definitions or if you will just call out the words. If you call out the definitions then students will have to remember the term and then put a chip down on the correct square. (for students who need a bit more help can have the term sheet next to them for assistance)
You can print yourself and extra vocab sheet and then cut them in strips and those can be used as what you randomly pick to call out to the students.
