In this activity students compare Melinda's character throughout most of the novel to her newly transformed self. You can choose to have students complete the included optional comparison grid first and then have them move on to their poster.
The Poster activity requires students to visually depict Melinda's transformation (symbolically) and then justify each symbol they chose through their writing. A student example is included!
As a BONUS, I have included a written template students can use to predict Melinda's transformation before it actually occurs.
Your students will enjoy this review poster activity accompanying your read of Laurie Halse Anderson's Speak!
