In this lab students will melt different items using a hot plate: paraffin, salt cystals and sugar crystals. They will note which order the items melt and draw conclusions about the type of bonds that each item has: polar covalent, non polar covalent, and ionic bonds. After they summarize and draw conclusions, they will answer some short folllow up questions.
