Differentiate your writing program with these 3 journals for Mem Fox!
There are three versions of Mem Fox writing journals to use during your writing workshop time. In version 1, “Three Facts,”
the children list 3 facts they have learned about the characters on a numbered list. This is a great beginning writer journal!
Version 2, “My Story,”
asks the children to write a narrative about what they know about the characters. And in version 3, “I Would,”
the children are able to use their imagination and creativity to explain what they would do as one of the characters. For example: If I were invisible like Hush, I would...” These journals have dotted writing lines and there is an extra writing page to make the journals two-sided. We have found that children will write more if there are more lines to write on!
The pages have clip art of the characters in the corner so the children know which page to work on. Each journal has one page for these 11 Mem Fox books:
☺ Possum Magic
☺ Hattie and the Fox
☺ Koala Lou
☺ Tough Boris
☺ The Magic Hat
☺ Where Is the Green Sheep?
☺ Sleepy Bears
☺ I’m Australian Too
☺ Yoo-Hoo, Ladybug
☺ Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge
Great for writing stations!
