Everyone loves to get more bang for their buck and that's exactly what you get with Sharing My Shorts!
With this year long writing project you will get to know your students as people and as writers.
Sharing My Shorts can be a long term project spanning the entire school year or a short term project spanning a few weeks.
The project consists of 8 prompts
to choose from. Each prompt encourages students to share moments in their lives by writing "short" stories or essays. If used over the course of the school year, the prompts can be used not only for students to get to know each other, but for you to get to know your students as writers. Drafts can be used as formative assessments to help you determine a student’s grasp of the writing standards being taught, thereby informing your instruction.
At the end of the school year, students take the "shorts" collected throughout the year and make final revisions. Copies of the final drafts can then be used as a summative assessment. The final drafts are published as a collection of personal memoirs or "shorts" the students and their parents will treasure.
