Read the book to students (of course!) and have students use the “Elfie Texts” to create text messages back and forth from Spark Elf to Santa or Mrs. Claus, another elf, or one of Spark Elf’s family members! Students can show what they learned from the book through their dialogue in their text messages.
Have students create an “Elfie Snap”! Students will draw a picture of their favorite part, a memorable part, a silly part, etc. and then include a text message describing what is happening in the snap (like a caption).
Have students write a summary of the book or tell about the sequence of events/important events using the “Memoirs of an Elf” cover page and the writing paper. Staple the cover page on top of the writing paper, and students can ”flip-up” to see their summaries underneath!
Have students write their own holiday memoir using the “My Holiday Memoir” cover page and the writing paper. Teach students that a memoir is a personal piece of writing about an event in his/her own life. Explain to students that a memoir is different from an autobiography because it is only describing “one” event in their lives, not their entire life’s story. Lastly, remind students that memoirs are very special stories that come from the heart! Have students write about a special holiday event that is important to him/her. Staple the cover page on top of the writing paper, and students can “flip-up” to see their holiday memoirs underneath!
This product comes in both color and black and white versions!
Happy reading, writing, and creating!
