Teach your students about Memorial Day with these activities. Use the student book to learn about Memorial Day in a kid-friendly way. Students will learn why we celebrate this holiday through writing, reading, and science (STEM). Check out the preview to see all of the activities included.
This product includes:
Word search: Use the word search for morning work, centers, partners, or whole group.
Student/Teacher Book: Use the student book to teach about Memorial Day. There is also a teacher copy for read-aloud and a PowerPoint Slideshow of the book as well. All are in color and black/white.
Writing Activities: There are two different writing activities with 4 different prompts included. Choose a prompt to write about and use a writing worksheet to draw and write about the prompt. There is also a "flag ribbon" that can be colored and added to the writing.
Paper Chain STEM Challenge: Students will try to create the longest red, white, and blue paper chain. Includes a 3-page recording booklet for students to plan, design, and reflect on the challenge.
Tallest Flagpole STEM Challenge: Students will try to create the tallest freestanding flagpole using a variety of supplies. Includes a 3-page recording booklet for students to plan, design, and reflect on the challenge.
5 Branches of the Military Craft/Book: Students will create a flag front cover for their book. The book consists of 5 cut/paste pages where the students learn about the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard. Optional pages that aren't cut/paste are included.
