Memorial Day Math? Honor Memorial Day while practicing Quadratic Functions? POSSIBLE.
Introducing the ★ FYI: Memorial Day Activity with a Quadratics Focus ★
How does the activity work?
Students answer 12 multiple choice questions regarding quadratic functions posted around the room. Instead of A,B,C, or D, the answer choices on each question are listed with a Memorial Day detail. Students record the Memorial Day detail associated with their answer on a special 3 paragraph write-up on Memorial Day with numbered blanks; this acts as an answer sheet.
Finished answer sheets provide students with a factual info card on Memorial Day. Format also makes checking the accuracy of student work a snap.

The 12 multiple choice questions focus on student understanding of the critical parts of a quadratic function: vertex, axis of symmetry, zeroes, y-intercept, maximum or minimum, range. All three forms of quadratics are used in a way that requires students to make connections between the forms.
Do you need a broader quadratic focus? Do you want a different selection of 12 problems? 8 alternate questions have also been included that hit a few of the same topics as well as broader quadratic topics such as factoring, the discriminant, the quadratic formula, equivalent equations, and solving quadratic equations in general.
Teacher tested; student approved.
