There are 3 differentiated mental addition worksheets, where children have to compete against the clock to complete the 20 questions as quickly as possible.
In addition to this, there are 3 further worksheets which cover addition, where children work in pairs to complete the 10 questions. The first child uses a calculator and the second child uses mental methods and they race to see who is the quickest. All answers are provided.
I created these worksheets to cover a range of abilities within my year 4 class (age 8) and both activities are designed to complement each other.
Numbers have been selected to cover a range of mental methods including, partitioning, rounding, number bonds and bridging through tens. I have written questions in different ways to challenge children's Maths vocabulary.
