Being able to quickly add numbers mentally is an important skill for students to develop. Addition Block Out! is designed to do just that. By giving students the opportunity to solve addition problems quickly and to see patterns in their adding, students will develop quicker mental math skills.
Addition Block Out! is designed for two students. Each game uses a six-sided number cube (or number cards 1-6). The first student will roll the cube to get a number. He will then quickly add the number listed at the top of the game board to the number on the cube. On the game board he will place a marker over one of the spaces containing his answer. The second student will repeat these steps. The purpose of the game is to get five spaces covered in a row (vertically, horizontally, or diagonally). Students may try to win as fast as possible or they may work to block their partner from winning. The game play gives opportunity for strategy along with addition skills.
This set contains 10 different game boards with 2 and 3 digit numbers. The boards can be copied onto cardstock and laminated or glued to construction paper for more durability.
