Mental Math practice with 8 no prep printable Cross Number puzzles, originally designed for Fourth and Fifth Grade (and other equivalents) for review of mental calculations, including Four Operations, Halving and Doubling, Fractions, Decimals, Percentages, and Place Value. An engaging alternative to standard worksheets, these activities can be used for early finisher tasks, starters, homework etc. As different concepts can sometimes be covered at different stages in different states and countries, please refer to the previews to check if these will be suitable for your students.
They could be completed by individuals or in pairs or small groups, where they will promote important discussions about different mental strategies. As in a crossword puzzle, students will find it easier to work out some of the more challenging calculations once they have filled in some of the easier ones as some digits will already be there for them. Answer keys are included for all 8 puzzles and could be printed for pupils to self-check (or displayed later on the board) and therefore cut down on your marking!
Differentiation: I have called this set of puzzles Set A rather than used any other identifier to help facilitate the use of my Set B puzzles (less challenging calculations, originally designed for 3rd and lower ability 4th Grade) with lower ability students within the same class without children being aware of the age level of the questions.
Set B can be found here:
