The ELA Standards demand that students write with a variety of sentence structures. What better way to model this than with Mentor Sentences? With Mentor Sentences, quality sentences are taken from authors and students are encouraged to imitate their writings. Students will write down the Mentor Sentence of the week, discuss things that they notice that make it a quality sentence, write down the sentence structure, and find and record the sentence structure that they find in their readings throughout the week. There is space provided for students to come up with their own original sentences.
