Having a weekly music routine is a great low-prep way to infuse authentic language, culture and fun into French class! This routine can be adapted to any level of French, from beginner to more advanced. 'Mercredi musique' became my students' favorite day of the week, and now we can't imagine class without it!
This product includes an editable slideshow of 30 authentic, contemporary songs in French (with a couple of oldies thrown in for good measure!). For each song, I have included a title slide with notes on the artist, genre, and a discussion question to get students talking about the music. Additionally, there is also a slide with the lyrics to each song's refrain for a whole-class sing-a-long (as is our tradition in class) and a photo of the artist that is linked to an accompanying music video.
My personal 'Mercredi musique' routine was designed to be as low-prep as possible and thus follows a pattern that I've outlined in the Teacher Notes section of this resource, but I have also noted a list of other possible activities that I have used with success in class and can be adapted to any song, at any level.
**Please note that you must have access to YouTube to play the songs and view the videos; I always recommend that you preview any music video before showing it to your class - you know your audience better than anyone else!**
