In the book, Mercy Watson to the Rescue, Eugenia Wilson has lots of opinions! This is a perfect way to introduce/reinforce fact and opinion to your students.
This activity is in card sort format (COLOR and BLACK and WHITE FORMAT TO ACCOMMODATE YOUR PRINTING PREFERENCES) and it will enlighten students with interesting facts about pigs as well as give them an opportunity to determine facts from opinions.
There are plenty of task cards to sort, sorting mats, and fact/opinion reference cards that can be printed and posted for reference prior to beginning the activity.
Two printable versions of student answer documents are included to assist with student accountability- as we all know, some students needs additional visual reminders to attend to assigned tasks in less structured settings such as centers or in small work groups.
These printable answer documents also provide excellent pieces of authentic work for student portfolios, IEP conferences, referral conferences, as well as parent/teacher conferences.
You can NEVER have too many of these kinds of activities for early finishers or for those days when the best laid plans are abandoned!
