Apsu- Primordial god personifying the subterranean realm from which freshwater emanates.

Tiamat- Primordial goddess of salt water. She and Apsu produced the next generation of gods. She is killed by Marduk in battle.

Marduk- First born of Ea/Enki who slays Tiamat. Becomes chief god of Babylon

Anu- Name mean heaven. Supreme source of authority among the gods, rules the sky.

Anshar-Primordial deity, who is father to Anu (god of the sky)

Ea/Enki- God of the ocean saves mankind from the “Great Flood”

Ellil/Enlil- Second only to Anu in importance, God of the earth directs the forces of nature. Keeper of the Tablet of Destinies that decrees the fate of gods and men.

Aruru-mother goddess of Babylon

Humbaba- Monster of the forest with the face of a Gorgon.
