PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Students will analyze five different documents- primary and secondary sources relating to Ancient Mesopotamian History. The documents include a pdf of the following: Hammurabi's Code excerpt, Epic of Gilgamesh Excerpt, Before/After photos of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon with caption description, Assyrian Conquest Stone carving, and a news article regarding ISIS destroying Mesopotamian artifacts (Feb. 2015).

Students will receive a handout in which they will answer questions to analyze the documents. Lower-level students can work in partners/small groups. Higher achieving students can complete this independently. This includes higher order thinking and analysis of historical documents. One class period should be given to complete this assignment. Any unanswered questions could be given as homework.
