This is an exciting, competitive, and engaging project for your students to work on about Mesopotamian gods and goddesses. In this project students will work in groups to learn and research about one of the gods or goddesses of Mesopotamia. After students have completed their research they will need to create a video commercial that advertises their god or goddess to the king of Mesopotamia. The best commercial will be crowned the winner and that god or goddess will be named deity of the new city-state that the king is going to build in ancient Mesopotamia. Students will love working on this project and will take away several meaningful life lessons!
This project comes with everything that you will need for your students from the first day to the last. Included in this package are the lesson plans for all five days, a rubric to grade the projects, a peer review rubric (used to hold each student accountable), a Windows Movie Maker Direction Sheet that explains to students how to use the program, edit videos, and produce them, objectives for the overall project, warm-ups for each day, and the social studies standards and Common Core ELA standards.
This project will take place over five 45- minute class periods. Students must be able to access computers and a camera for this lesson to work. This is a great project that teachers can use year after year. Modifications can be made as necessary.
