The Standard of Ur - an artifact from the Royal Cemetery in the ancient Sumerian city of Ur - is a box with mosaic panels depicting a series of scenes. The mosaics of shell, lapis lazuli, and red limestone cover two sides of the Standard of Ur. Though the original purpose is not fully understood, the mosaic panels give us some idea about life in early Mesopotamia.
In this activity, students will create paper mosaics modeled after the Standard of Ur. Students will depict scenes from their lives to create either individual standards or a class standard
