This is the entire document for Metacognitive Strategies for Interactive Notebooks. You can download the first lesson in my store for free, as preview of the product.
These strategies are perfect for whole and small group instruction, and are applicable to any text, but especially information text. The intent is to make students aware of their own thinking as they read and for eventual independence from the teacher in a small literacy group. I use it for intervention and acceleration. They also echo many of the Common Core standards.
These strategies are arranged in three sections: before, during and after reading, with multiple interactive graphic organizers at each level. I have included teacher directed notes followed by student blanks for independent work. The PowerPoint included in the .zip file has all the master notes for each foldable as well as some sample photos.
-background knowledge and making predictions
-wonderings (questioning while reading)
-what I learned
Mini-organizers for follow up lessons
