♥ Interactive power point - Part II – METAPHORS - 20 slides.
Our objective is stated. Metaphors are introduced. Students are given a strategy for interpreting the meaning of a metaphor. Sit back and enjoy as the power point presents examples for your students to interpret. The interactive practice progresses in difficulty with each successive example.

Although this resource on metaphors can stand alone, be advised that there is a slide in the power point that references similes, which is introduced in Part I of this THREE PART SERIES. It would benefit your students to learn about similes first if you have not purchased the bundle, which includes 3 lessons that build on each other in the following sequence:
PART I – SIMILES
PART II – METAPHORS
PART III – IDIOMS

♥ Printable Pages (See Part II Contents listed below) - The student handout/poster corresponds with a slide in the power point. (The printed lesson plan gives specific guidelines for when to distribute this during the show.) Follow the power point with printable practice pages and an assessment. All were created to increase in difficulty from simple and complex phrases to fictional passages that build in length from 1 - 3 paragraphs.

♥ 4 pages of detailed Answer Keys – In addition to the meanings of the metaphors, these underline the two things being compared, and list what they have in common, delineating whether this is directly stated or determined through inference.
