This metaphors matching game was created for intermediate readers! It's a great addition to your figurative language lessons. Students try to collect the 4 cards that make a set as they play around a small group.

Every set includes:

  1. metaphor card
  2. definition card
  3. metaphor in a sentence card
  4. illustration card

There are 2 sets of 10 cards, making it easy for you to differentiate the game based on the needs of your students!

There ARE black and white pages of all playing cards.

I've also included:

  • an anchor chart you could use in an introductory lesson
  • coordinating metaphor practice page
  • TWO sets of differentiated student work pages

You could also use this game to extend learning with 3rd graders, or review and remediate with 5th graders.

Please download the preview file to get a peek at almost every page included in this packet.
