Just a quick metaphors, similes and hyperboles worksheet set. It's targeted at junior secondary (middle school). I will be using it as a quick stepping stone for a year 8 unit on writing persuasively.
There are three pages (metaphor, simile and hyperbole) which explain what each technique is, and a chart which aims to break down analysis. For the metaphors this means identifying the comparison being made and the adjectives/descriptive features shared by both sides of the metaphor. For the hyperboles, this means identifying the exaggeration and the meaning being emphasised.
There are also two worksheets which aim to scaffold students to write metaphors, similes and hyperboles.
