### Description

This set of 40 metric conversion measurement word problems (20 different problems--each with an added "challenge" level providing a second problem to match the first) supports the Common Core and other rigorous math standards. Converting between metric units can be tricky, and these cards are great to be used as class warm ups, as a part of math workshop or math stations, or even to print and glue into math notebooks for independent work.

Pages can be printed, cut into quadrants, and laminated to use as task cards (color version) or can be copied and cut apart to use in math journals. Pages are included in color AND with white background for easy copying. There is also a blank recording sheet where students can show their work if you use these as task cards. All answers are included.

NOTE: This set includes the same cards with both the U.S. spelling (ex. meter) and a more international spelling (ex. metre).

These problems are written to help students work both on problem solving skills and their metric conversion skills--between milliliters and liters, millimeters/centimeters/meters, and grams and kilograms.

Convert among different-sized standard measurement units within a given measurement system (e.g., convert 5 cm to 0.05 m), and use these conversions in solving multi-step, real world problems.
Use the four operations to solve word problems involving distances, intervals of time, liquid volumes, masses of objects, and money, including problems involving simple fractions or decimals, and problems that require expressing measurements given in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Represent measurement quantities using diagrams such as number line diagrams that feature a measurement scale.
Know relative sizes of measurement units within one system of units including km, m, cm; kg, g; lb, oz.; l, ml; hr, min, sec. Within a single system of measurement, express measurements in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Record measurement equivalents in a two-column table. For example, know that 1 ft is 12 times as long as 1 in. Express the length of a 4 ft snake as 48 in. Generate a conversion table for feet and inches listing the number pairs (1, 12), (2, 24), (3, 36),...
