Metric Measurement Dominoes is a fun science game for students in grades 5-8 to reinforce their understanding of the International System of Units. As students connect their domino-style playing cards, they will become more familiar with the terminology associated with weight, mass, volume, density, time, length, and temperature. Students will also develop higher-level thinking skills as they determine relationships between tool, purpose, and unit.
For example, students can connect “triple-beam balance” to “mass”, since that is what it measures. They can then connect “grams” since that is the unit mass is measured in. They could then connect “milligrams”, since there are 1,000 milligrams in one gram.
