This is a great activity to get kids moving around the classroom and making real-world metric measurements. All station directions as well as student sheets are included in this 10 page Word Document.
I use this activity in my classrooms as stations set up around the room. You could modify it to fit your needs. There are 8 different stations that students need to rotate through. I usually give about 2 class periods to complete the 8 "events". I have students work in groups of 2-3 but you could change this depending on how big the class is.
The students will have to make distance, mass, volume, and temperature measurements at each "event" they go to. I like that the students have to estimate the measurement first, then record the actual measurement at the event they participated in.
