I have created a foldable for students to use when converting units using the metric system for length, volume, and mass. This is a great tool using the "ladder" method and a mnemonic memory device. You can either use the power completed form on the projector and have students fill in the semi blank foldable attached or pass out the complete foldable and have students begin to convert decimals after you review the sheet.
When you print the pdf, remember to check landscape and and print on 2 sheets.
Convert like measurement units within a given measurement system.
Convert among different-sized standard measurement units within a given measurement system (e.g., convert 5 cm to 0.05 m), and use these conversions in solving multi-step, real world problems.
Students need to develop an understanding of metric units and their relationships, as well as fluency in applying the metric system to real-world situations. Because some non-metric units of measure are common in particular contexts, students need to develop familiarity with multiple systems of measure, including metric and customary systems and their relationships.
