Timelines make for a great visual of how history unfolds. For this activity, students read a summary of 8 major events that help explain why the war started and how it ended. The timeline begins with an entry for Mexican independence and ends with the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.
Students use illustrations and brief summaries for their timeline entries. After making their timeline entries, students answer a questions about whether or not the US was justified entering into war with Mexico. This product is designed as a broad overview. It can be folded and glued into an interactive notebook.
