Product Description

This activity allows students to create - or recreate - a dialogue about the Mexican American War. Numerous historical figures have been included with brief summaries to ensure the dialogues can be specific, accurate and believable.

This is intended to be used towards the end of a short unit on the Mexican American War as a way for students to creatively internalize the key disagreements about the war, which was hugely controversial in the United States even at the time. The activity presumes some knowledge about other factors leading to the Civil War, including the expansion of slavery and various compromises in the first half of the 19th century.

Historical figures included that students can choose from:

- Santa Anna

- Jose Joaquin de Herrera

- Abraham Lincoln (before he was President)

- Joshua Giddings

- Maria Josefa Zozaya

- Frederick Douglass

- James Polk

- Iron Jacket (Comanche Chief)

...and more!
