This interactive, virtual field trip to Mexico City uses Google Maps to give your students the most realistic trip to Mexico that they can experience without leaving your classroom.
Your students will travel to some of the most famous sites in Mexico City, including...
-El Ángel de la Independencia
-Bosque de Chapultepec
-La Casa Azul
They will learn about each site and use embedded links to view each place in real life through 360 degree photographs. At each location, they will use the screenshot function to capture their own images of the location and insert them into the presentation.
At various points in the trip, students will be asked to use the Google Street view function to explore regions of the city on their own, capturing interesting sites, and writing their own descriptions of what they see.
Before returning home, students will be taken to the Mercado de la Merced where they will "shop" for souvenirs of their trip.
At the end of the trip, students will be asked to provide feedback on the places they visited using a drag and drop feature in which the categorize the places they have visited based on what they thought. As the teacher, this will allow you to gauge student interest and choose places that your students may want to learn about in more depth.
After your students complete the interactive field trip, you will also have photo collections of interesting places that each student has found all over the city to further class activities and discussion.
This resource is recommended for use with Google Classroom and is best suited for classes that have 1:1 devices. The place descriptions are primarily in English but introduce students to Spanish terms for various people, places, and things. This is to provide access to all students regardless of language proficiency. Since this resource will be editable, this can be changed by the teacher if desired.
