Welcome to my Winter Olympics Research Paper in Microsoft Word. I thought with the Olympics approaching in February that it would be a great time to learn more about past Olympics. By picking and researching a particular Olympic Game, students learn what cities have to go through to get an Olympics and how much is involved in putting it on. I have so enjoyed seeing my students get excited about the different facts they are learning.
During this project, your students will learn how to format a research paper and their citations in the MLA format. Some individual skills include centering and double spacing. These are very important skills to learn as your students prepare to write research papers in other classes. Your English teachers will love you for this.
The curriculum package includes my step by step, easy to use lesson plans, a sample paper written by me, a grading rubric and paper requirements to give your students. I have also provided a note taking system described in my lesson plans. devised by one of our English teachers. It is a great way to keep your students organized in their research. The system involves taking notes on index cards in bullets rather than complete sentences. I told my students that there is a much less chance of plagiarizing if you make your own sentence from a bullet rather than coping the sentence word for word from the internet onto your card. I typed up a sample paragraph, off the top of my head, in other words, don't check my facts, to use as an example of taking a sentence off a website and turning it into a bullet in your note taking. I have included the paragraph and possible bullets in your package.
I hope you will consider purchasing my curriculum. It is heavy on computer details while instilling an excitement in the students about the coming Olympic Games. GO USA!!
