This is a simple and easy to use lesson plan on the Battle of Hastings in 1066. Have your students watch the YouTube video and answer the questions. The video is from the great BBC/Military Channel series called Battlefield Britain. Watch the video for yourself at:
If the video link ever changes just search YouTube for “Battlefield Britain Battle of Hastings 1066”
This video focuses on the tactics used by the Saxons and Norman forces in 1066. The video also does an excellent job explaining strengths and weaknesses of both sides during the battle. The video does a great job of complementing major educational concepts being taught in the classroom on the Middle Ages. Students will find the video interesting and engaging. From my perspective, this is the best one hour student friendly documentary about the Battle of Hastings. With discussion and answering of questions in class this video worksheet will take at least an hour or more to complete. The worksheet includes 24 questions and has an answer sheet for the teacher. Finally, you can download the video to your computer by using KeepVid.
