A great activity to assist middle and high school students in writing with Primary Sources in our content!

You will have two differentiated primary source excerpts. Students read two first hand accounts about the slave trade. Students then are prompted to create a claim and back it up with evidence from the primary source.

Higher level reading is marked with a triangle, the lower level reading is marked with a circle. The lower level reading has the same questions as the higher level, but has been paraphrased to make it more accessible to lower level readers.

I have used the lower level reading as low as 6th grade, I have used the upper level readings with 10th grade. Hopefully these help you differentiate your instruction!

As with all TPT products, please do not reproduce or post anywhere without explicit permission.
