Description

In my high school art (also good for middle school art) painting class, I like to start with an abstract acrylic painting. By starting this way, I am not only introducing them to a style of art they may not be familiar with, but I am forcing them to loosen up by painting something they may have never thought of. There is less pressure to create an accurate portrait, or exactly copy the still life. Instead, the focus is on color, texture, and shape, which are concepts you need to grasp before successfully moving on.

This project is great for older middle school art students or high school art students in an Introduction to Art or Painting class. In addition to working on painting basics, this lesson also includes a mini introduction to photo editing in Photoshop. Students learn basic ways of creating their own digital abstract works of art.

All in all this file includes:

➢Lesson plan (including big idea, essential questions, objectives, national standards, supply list, and day to day how to)

➢PowerPoint or PDf presentation

➢Abstract Acrylic Landscape Photoshop Tips and How-To worksheet

➢Critique sheet

➢Rubric

This is everything you need to plan and introduce this assignment. It's perfect for grades 7th to 12th and beyond.

This project is included in my semester curriculum painting class here.
